From inception Cirrus Home has been dedicated to creating products that seek to minimise their impact on the environment.

The textile industry is one of the world’s largest contributors to waste and knowing that we wanted to work with natural fibres, eliminating micro-plastics. Our research showed that linen which was both European Flax® and OEKO-TEX certified was the best option to counter the industry standard of highly polluting materials.

The European Flax® certification means the linen has guaranteed traceability from flax seed through to the weaving process and is in compliance with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), meaning it is in accordance with human labour rights. European Flax® signifies fibres from Belgium, Netherlands and France. Similarly, the OEKO-TEX certification highlights textiles and fabrics which are tested and guaranteed to be free from harmful substances. Even the Cirrus Home laundry bags, free with each pair of pillowcases purchases, are made from GOTS certified cotton. This stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard and is internationally recognised as the gold standard certification for fabrics with low environmental impact. The award also recognises the need for appropriate human rights, such as living wages and no child labour.

Fabric scraps

Any large fabric scraps left over from cutting are kept for future projects, however, some scraps are too small. Rather than going straight to landfill Cirrus Home uses the Australian company Upparel to collect these scraps and recycle the fibres into filling forfurniture, cushions and toys.

Packaging

The packing within which you receive your order is 100% paper, and recyclable.
